sorry, could not remember what the reset and mod pins for bking are as i think i have not even seen a bking ecu - but would make a guess that those are same as busa. i am sure tha justin and ballad are better persons to confirm this.

At the molex level the pins are already mapped, so maybe I missed your question. Anyway GenII and B-King have the same old harness
and the 2 additional wires must  be connected to pin 25 and 28
of the GenII or B-King ECU.

There is no molex on this new design, but maybe there should be. Adding a molex should not be a biggie to implement, but dont see the point of having molex in case the interface is using SDS connector and Yoshbox connector like it should be.

The pins on the top could be easily rewired to molex - but instead the latest design 2011v1.1 has a 0.1" connector placing there. Also the FTDI USB connector is in the latest design with 0.1" spacing meaning that soldering is easier.

This is the 2011v1.0 design.

The point is to reuse the existing insalled harness, for those which already
used the old interface. So the new interface would be fully plug compatible, while the
old molex harness would differentiate between busa/bking and gixxer for new users.

Not so much a prob with the on bike sds connectors, but with the bench harnesses being model specific and for interchangability between on bike and bench adaptors a molex connector would save having multiple units :)

PetriK, what are the diameters of the holes for teh Tyco switch?

Wondering if this switch may fit as well, even thought eh spacing is slightly different on the width.

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/MS-100734.pdf

Spacing is 4.70mm X 4.83mm vs 4.32mm X 4.83mm for the TYCO

I loking at other options, it seems the 4.70mm X 4.83mm  is pretty standard and the tyco switch is an exception.

I may redesign the board for molex, but not a priority right now. As you know I am not into this to sell interfaces, just made the board as there has been feedback with "lights off" issue.

All this talk power requirements for fast baud data logging got me thinking.
If you just need a clean 12v power source at the ecueditor interface why cant you use a dc to dc power supply to feed the interface with?
Maybe something like this

The power level of the ecu and the sds input must be the same. You can always disconnect the charger and that will fix the problems, or just leave the headlight on with normal bulb.

Today I removed the EXCVA from my b-king  leaving both connectors
(+12v power and 3 wires sensor) fuly open.
After that when the (old) usb interface is connected for data logging,
very frequantly the immobilizer light turns on and the engine turns off suddenly.
Using both  busa and stock b-king (with exc off) bin file does not make any difference.
Is this a know issue or is there a solution? The new interface addresses this problem?

If this happens only when datalogging - its possible that your USB device resets for an unknown reason. You can try removing the RST pin temporarily to check if that helps. If this is what happens its possible that there is a big grounding difference or something into that direciton.

If this happens also otherwise than datalogging, then do check that you are using US bin in US ecu and EU bin in EU ecu.

If not either of the above, please report back and then I will need to look ecueditor.com bking programming to check out what possibly has changed.

I have had a similar problem with a bad connection in the interface connectors, so just check this as a simple first check.

Spot on. I reproduced the problem by touching the usb connector on the pc side.
Thank you Justim.

Thanks Petri, looks great. I was thinking about ordering a couple of these in the next couple of days. The price gets cheaper the more you order at once, anyone else want to go in on the order?

Probably the easiest way to contact me is to message me on Facebook with your details.

Cheers

-Justin.

for anyone wanting to go in on the group buy for the new boards send me an email to EcuDataLogger at gmail.com with your details

Please note that this is just for the circuit boards and not the components that need to be soldered onto the board. The components can be purchased separately at electronics supply stores.

When i get final numbers i will calculate the price and let you know shipping cost etc. The more boards we buy at a time the cheaper it gets!

Cheers

EcuDataLogger at gmail.com just replace the "at" with @.

I dont list the full email address as there are thousands of automated spam bots out there that trawl the web looking for email addresses that they can add to their spam lists, they dont pick up the above format.

Greetings from a full day dynosession with a Gixxer K7. We used the Busa gen2 firmware succesfully and also installed shifter and nitrous control functionality. The new interface design was also put throug a series of tests with various computers. As part of this process we found an improvement to the design. There is more information on the interface page, but in essense the improvement is described below.

NOTE: to 2011v1.0 PCB
Due to some differences in USB connectors its adviceable to install an 1KOhm resistor between the PCB and Brown FTDI wire. Otherwise it is possible that with some USB hubs (i.e. laptops etc.) the enginedata may not connect properly leading to a recycling fuelpump when switch is turned into enginedata mode. Below you can see the principle where the resistor needs to be added.

This improvement must be incorporated also to latest design before its put in production. Other than this and some tweaking of the ecueditor.com software for better dyno useability and better suitable for gixxers, everything works as expected.

Hello,

i have heard of some problems with the interface,

some fixes:

Look at the first post in my schematic http://macmadigan.no-ip.com/public/interface/interface_boerd.JPG for fast-logging R9 must 1K not 10K.

Cut the wire from the usb-ttl-cabel to the interface-pcb short as you can and use a usb extension cabel, the cabel from usb-ttl to the interface-pcb is not shielded, that makes the data transmission less sensitive to interference.

it was not easy for me to help with this problem since i only use some of this interface.

Boerd

Thanks boerd - the 10k->1k is now corrected on the pcb version 1.3c: http://macmadigan.no-ip.com/public/interface/ecueditor_v1.3c.123
(I have a few of those boards which will be in ebay when have time)

I really hope that both your interface as well as particularly the datalogger come for sale on ebay soon !

just looked at the pcb and it looks normal. i have not posted a schematic as such, only pcb design as it was just easier to do the board based on schematic from boerd.

The chip certianly looks very ideal for K-Line communication. It would take some thinking on how to setup the necessary resistance values. I wonder what the limit of the motorcylcle Ecu communication is, as that might be the next problem.

I was wondering if anyone has found a enclosure that fits the interface with a molex connector? I realize that holes will have to be made for the switch, cable, and connector.

I have a radio shack box at the moment but, it looks a little hack so, I was hoping to find a better box.

Thanks,

Mark
