If you don't want to rewire the harness the easiest thing to do is put a toggle switch in place of the clutch switch and just use it during starting.

The other alternative is modifing the harness so that the starter relay still works regardless of the clutch switch.

By the way the Ecu has seperate clutch limiters and maps.

Mark,

You can just bridge the clutch switch so the starter circuit is complete, then remove the clutch switch wire from the ecu, so it will not default to clutch in maps

Did you look at this pinout page http://ecuhacking.activeboard.com/t17007315/pinout-0506-gsx-r1000-ecu/

I just got done looking, I think it said 58.

Yup- I disconnected 58- engine still changes pitch when operating switch.  I noticed the same line runs to starter switch which has a signal to ecu through Y/G wire.  At this point not sure.

I have by passed my clutch switch by just joining the 2 wires together.

I'm I reading this right, by doing this it will alter the fueling?

The ECU considers clutch-in the same as neutral and cause it to use the neutral fuel, ignition, secondary throttle, etc maps instead of the correct maps for the gear you are in.

ok thanx for that, I'm only running a neutral sensor on my old oil burner, so i presume it won't make any difference to how mine runs.

Actually a missing gear sensor error defaults the ECU to 6th gear maps when not in neutral or clutch in.

So would it be better if I fitted a GPS and reverted back to a clutch switch, rather than bypassing the clutch and using just a neutral
