Aim mxl dash with K8 Ecu

Hi all, i need some advice, I have a gsxr 1340 k8 engine which I'm running in a race car, I'm using a standard suzuki ecu and modified suzuki loom to work as just an engine loom. I'd like to use an aim mxl pista dash but I am unsure how to, i know aim do a plug and play loom but it will not fit my loom. I've been told to connect the CAN+ to the black/green MIL wire. However I've also been told that these Suzuki ecus need to be run on the RS232 protocol. Does anyone have any past experience related to this ? Any help would be great ! Thanks Dan

I'm not much help other than a contact. I'm running a EVO4 with a Formula wheel on a GenII in a Radical. So the AIM products must work. I just had an issue connecting a smartycam GP to my existing system and am super satisified with US customer support.

You might try Chad in Virgina or Josh in CA.

Info here: Jump to contacts it won't let me direct link.

Also Richard at Rilltech in Denver installs them so I'm sure he knows. plus he offers a real spiffy cleaned up light weight harness that may already be set up for it.

I´m not sure if it works with mxl pista. But i know it works with EVO4 and mxl dash or Mychron3 dash. With Evo4 you can import the SDS-Signal over the K-line input. There are 21 channels to log from sds. Additional to the normal channels. And EVO4 has GPS onboard.

The sds-channels works fine with 10hz. But Fast-Baud cannot be read. RPM-Signal should import from the faster rpm-connector.

It will work with MXL PISTA.
2 years ago i was servicing 600k8 gsxr with it installed.
Same model worked also (after software upgrade) with S1000rr.
There should be wire loom of mxl to connect directly to gsxr loom.

I thought i´m not sure if MXL-Pista can read the SDS-DATA-Stream from the ecu. It´s clear that mxl works with each vehicle if you plug-in some sensors. Stock or aftermarket.

@Dan: our aim-dealer said there is maybe a possibility to make the SDS-K-Line Signal readable over CAN-Bus. If so, you have the whole stream on MXL.

Question on behalf of a friend. Can you use the same process on a Gen1?

thanks

No, there is no SDS-output on Gen1-Busa.

For AIM-Logger without a K-Line input ( i.E.: MXL), you can take the ECU-Bridge from AIM to read the SDS-K-Line Signal.
