R6 06-07 UK spec 2CO-8591A-00


I've been trying to extract bin file from model above. It has 2 MCU SH7052 model which one holds fly by wire throttle mapping, the other holds fuel, ignition and etc mapping.

 

I managed to get to AUD port of both MCU, however only able to extract bin file from fly by wire throttle MCU. 

 

Basically i soldered wires to AUD pads, and connect to arduino to extract the bin file. I double check all my wires connection from other end of wire to pad, no problem. Then to the back of ECU board which also has AUD connections, no issue. Pad 1 and pad 2 gives 5.08V reading. Still can't extract the bin file.

 

ECU is currently connected to harnesses and battery, with some resistors and switches, managed to clear all error codes, however haven't try to simulate crank and cam signal to get ecu thinks engine is running with tacho moving.

 

Is there anyone can give me a direction to check/ diagnose the issue mentioned? hope ecu is not fried. Thank you everyone. Will post up some photo laters

I checked with DIAG mode, injectors & ignitions all giving me 5 flashes as indicated in service manual, TPS, sensors readings are normal.

I know that in order to flash the MCU in R6 ECU, user has to route one of the pin from ECU to ECU ground. So there are 3 pins, 1 for MCU1, 1 for MCU2 another is ECU ground(i might not be completely correct, but this is my research from similar product in the market)

I wonder if i have to ground the correct pin to ground in order to read 2nd MCU through AUD port.

Appreciate any input to get through this. (i'm just DIYer with mech background and interest in electronic) :) Thanks

yesterday i managed bench run the ECU, however some error exists, Error 11, 14 & 46


Error 11: missing cylinder identification sensor/ cam signal

Error 14: intake pressure sensor

Error 46: charging system

Due to the signal generated from my laptop soundcard is way too low (around 0.76V AC RMS @ 1200rpm, peak to peak 2V) for R6 cylinder identification sensor/ cam signal input which is using hall sensor with 5v input, output near to 5V with square wave.

I also doubt the voltage is sufficient for crank position input which is using VR sensor. However yet to be determined. I now assumed the ECU is working.

I haven't discovered how to dump MCU 2 bin ( fuel & ignition ), If there is anyone would like to share / hint me the method they used to successfully read MCU2, I would be appreciate it.

Recently gathering information on simulating crank and cam signal for ECU. Several methods found

1) using software to generate crank and cam signal through sound wave, output it through speaker jack. Left for crank, right for cam. However the downside is soundwave from laptop isn't enough for ECU to recognise. Addition transformer / transistor circuit required to simulate VR signal / Hall effect signal.

2) using Arduino. Using arduino. This would be great for simulating hall effect sensor. Not sure how well ECU can accept its sine wave signal, resolution of signal and frequency...

did you find a solution for the problem of not being able to dump the second MCU ?
i have the same problem with US spec 09 model

Hi Swami, I haven't figured out the method yet. When you flash this ecu, pin used to flash mcu1 & mcu2 are different.

So, i strongly believe we need to trigger certain pin in order to dump the rom.

Unfortunately, i have yet to find out the solution.
