ZX6R ECU donor system

Hi!

I'm new to the forum, new to ECU hacking and new to fuel injection so please bear with me :)

I am doing a fuel injection conversion on a Bandit 1200 and so far have procured a set of '09 ZX6R throttle bodies, ECU, wiring loom, Bazzaz fuel injection unit and an O2 sensor block off terminal.

- Firstly ignition. Does anyone know if the ECU can be fooled into not providing the ignition so I can use the stock ignition unit? If not, how difficult are the ignition maps to flash as this Bazzaz thing I've got is only for the fuelling.

- Secondly, the 09 zx6 has a cam sensor, presumably used for sequential injection for low rev efficiency. If I fit a sensor to my bike, how will the ECU know the position of said sensor in relation to the crank because it will be difficult to position it exactly in the same place as it would be on the ZX6 - can the ECU be modded/flashed to calibrate this?

- Thirdly - rev range. A Bandit 1200 redlines at ~11k, a zx6 redlines at ~15k. Will the fuel mappings above my usable rev range just be ignored?

- Lastly - O2 sensor. I had assumed that the O2 sensor was a key player in determining mixture but I have since read it is only used for emissions at low revs. Are these really ignore by the ECU and if I install a block off terminal, will the ECU just ignore it or go into some kind of limp home mode?

I hope those questions make some kind of sense. Any input is welcome. Many thanks

Regards

Dan

Hi Dan

Having done lots EFI conversions myself hayabusa and gsxr1000 stuff on zx11 and zzr1200's

I would suggest gritting a full woolich racing setup and just flashing the ecu for fuel and ignition ,you can allso adjust the rev limiter in the software.

The woolich setup also has auto tune .

It should not be to hard to memick the crank and cam trigger wheels as i have done ,that way the ecu thinks it's on a ZX6r and it will start right up .

see My ZZR1200/Hayabusa ECU Projecton this forum

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I'll definitely have a read of your project. Is the woolwich system a power commander equivalent or a modification of the actual ecu instead?

Thanks

Dan
