Map / Definition Files

Here you can find the Original Stock Map files for various models as well as Enginuity Definition files.

What are Definition files?

The files we call 'Map' files actually contain binary data that the ECU uses to adjust ignition timing, fuel delivery, limit RPM, change throttle response etc. In order for the Enginuity map editing software to display this information in a meaningful way so that it can be viewed and edited it needs to be told which data is used for what. That is what the definition files are used for.

The current map definitions do not currently cover all the known tables and settings in all the ECUs and are constantly being updated as new features are uncovered. Open the definition xml file with a text editor to view the version header for more detailed information.

The definition in this table will always be the most current.

To view the maps with Enginuity:

You will need to have Java installed on your computer. (Most people already have it.)

Instructions:

1) Install the Enginuity software. Enginuity0.4.0b-win Map Viewer/Editor (4.7MB)

2) copy the latest definition zx12_def.xml to the Enginuity root directory c:\Program Files\Enginuity\

3) copy the map data file .bin to the Enginuity image directory c:\Program Files\Enginuity\images\

4) Launch the software

5) From the menu bar select ECU Definitions:Ecu Definitions Manager

6) In the manager select Add.. and add the zx12_def.xml file

7) Select Apply then Save.

8) Selct the Open File/Image Icon

9) Select the .bin file of the model you wish to view

10) After a short delay a menu tree will appear on the left from which you can select the maps you want to view

To view a 3D map select one from the left hand side menu and then click the red 3D icon. The maps are rotatble with in the window. Use can also use the table menu in each map window to compare maps to each other.

Also check the table properties for notes about the maps.

The definition file will change most often. As I learn more about the software I will refine the definition to add new misc maps and more clearly define the units used in the existing maps

This thread is to download these files only so I closed it. You can still download the files. I prefer the term locked to closed but sometimes you need to hack the ECUs with the message boards you have, not the message boards you wish you had.

If you have questions or comments please post them in another thread.

Map data for a 2001 ZX-1200A2 21175-1079US.bin
Map data for a 2002 ZX-1200B1 21175-1089US.bin

The definition file was updated to include the new model/map for the -1079 I renamed the bins because in comparing the two I found the zzr-t006 is not a unique string id. The 21175-1079US type string is unique and also happens to be the Kawasaki part number for the ECU.

Right now only the fuel and ignition maps are defined for the new A2. I'll update the definitions as I go thru the new code section and identify map locations and functions.

Some one sent me a 2000 21175-1069 ECU otherwise known as the A1 model so I modified it and downloaded it.

zx12_def.xml now defines the basic maps of all three models;

21175-1069US 2000 ZX1200A1
21175-1079US 2001 ZX1200A2
21175-1089US 2002/3 ZX1200B1/B2

I also included the maps for the above listed ECUs.

In addition this new definition has the ignition map values converted to degrees BTDC and the manifold air pressure maps are calibrated in cmHg (cm mercury)

This Enginuity definition now contains the entire known 2D and 3D map set for the A1 model. (21175-1069) The functions of all the maps has not be determined yet but at least they are all defined if you want to look at them.

One step closer

I forgot that the 2000 Euro model 21175-1065EU is almost exactly the same as the 2000 US model -1069US that I just did the full maps for.

So a little cut and paste and we have complete maps for the EU A1 as well.

I used to think they were exactly the same, but with the expanded map set I did find one small difference. In Gear Map 15198 RPM in the EU map in 3rd gear between 1600 - 2200 rpm the values are 10% less in the EU map than in the US map.

A little housekeeping notice:

I am know updating a single Enginuity xml file for the zx-12s called ZX12_def.xml.  The zip in the file at the top of the page will always be the latest version.

From now I will maintain a version history within the xml file itself. Just open it with a text editor to read it.
