ecueditor.com infoscreen

Today added a new feature called infoscreen to the front page of ecueditor.com. The purpose of infoscreen is to be able to communicate with the user community about the new things happening around ecueditor.com

This is an early pilot, I really would like to take this to kind of  "twitter" type of message exhange.

Moved the information coming from twitter. That seems to work, exept on older XP machine.

Now would need to understand how twitter authentication works so that we could add a direct "enter comment" to the screen.

Hi Petri, i like the concept, it would be good to be able to see more than just the last message though, as some users may be infrequent users of the software so if they could scroll and see a date time of when each message was logged it may be even more useful?

OK, will add the scrollbar.

I would like to add some level of interactivity into the system so that any user could type quick messages there too. Do you know how the tiwtter authentication with pin numbers and stuff works. I did not yet yesterday get my head around it...

no i have not really looked at it before, are you thinking about allowing people to log in with there own twitter account and post messages or to use an ecu editor twitter account? You could also look at integrating with facebook, both are good ways to spread the word about ecu editor to a wider audience.

I was also thinking about making it possible to ask questions on line when you are tuning from the community...

Is there an easy to use facebook api ? Last time when tried to generate a page it just was too difficult if you were not a real person...

yes, you can generate your own ecueditor.com facebook page, my website has one...mine is early in it's stages http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_182928595078012 but you still have to start some kind of an account www.ecuflashingonline.com  you can also generate a "like" page also on facebook.

Just More input Here......I think Face Book would be a Much better way of Communicating EE2 than with Tweeter. With Face Book, You could make it have it's Own Domain so to speak.

Got finally facebook up and running... I believe that it could become a "fast answer" channel.

It may be so that the page can be made more visible when there is the minimum amount of supporters available - so that an username can be created... to start with fb does not allow a public username for community pages without supporters.

Would it be possible to have an option  to disable any network access?
Sometimes when doing long sessions in ecueditor and the network/twitter/facebook are slow, response time is really annoying.

Based on tests using in dyno with a 3G mobile internet connection it is disabled when youre running any mission critical parts of the apps like flashing or enginedata.

Agree with you and thouthg to change the structure also a bit in the future so that the view will be more applealing and data mainly update only with an user action, e.g. click of a button so that it does not distract the work.

Would it be possible to allow the window to be resized vertically? I find it easier to read rather than scroll through a very narrow list.

I would just add a "refresh" button, so network is accessed only upon request,
maybe with an autorefresh every 10-20 minutes.
