Newbie needs help again! USB TTL seems dead

Hi guys! Finaly got hold of a USB TTL adaptor today but when I plugged it into the USB my computer did not recognise itcry

I tried two cables and neither worked, to my understanding I should be able to plug adaptor into USB cable then USB into computer and then my computer should recognise new device. I was just testing it before I wire it up.
Pictures below, appreciate anybodys advice. I gues it could just be deadconfuse

If this is a single layer board design, which it looks to be, you can tell by the trace on the bottom that the power coming in from the USB connector is not going anywhere. You would either have to add a jumper where it says "use power" or feed 5v to the 4 pin connector.

What model is this? Can you get instructions or a datasheet from the web?

Thanks Gadget, I see what your saying, I will try a jumper otherwise I will see if I can find more information on the model etc.

I feel like and idiot now! Obvious when you look at it, solder across those two points and it works fine. Successfully connected to my ECUbiggrin

I gues they do that so a switch can be wired in? confuse
Thanks againsmile

Did you get it to work?
As stated in my post, all I did was solder a small wire on the board where it is marked USB & POWER and it worked fine. You can see where I soldered it on the bottom left of the circuit diagram.

I think the issue here is that the K8 uses a different CPU than the earlier GSXRs. The Renesas FDT software will not talk to these newer ECUs

Mine has worked fine since soldering the jumper, used about 40 times!
