Need help.... error message says: "FDT.exe not found..."

Hi guys,

have bought a new laptop, installed Renesas FDT 4.01 software and PetriK's Hacking stuff as usual. Port is set to com2. Started FDT, created a new project with the SH7052F. Closed FDT software again, started PetriK's ECU software. Loading a new base map (nothing changed for testing purposes).
Everything as usual.

When hitting the 'Flash the ecu' button I receive the error message:
"FDT.exe not found, please install from www.renesas.com/fdt. Only versions 3.07, 4.00, 4.01, 4.02 tested."

Hmmmm, no clue about it.
The only differences to my old laptop are the language use (German instead of English) and the cores (AMD instead of Intel).

Any idea?

You should install the FDT to the default directory.

What is the full name of the FDT directory ?

Hi Petri,

have tried several installation paths.
The actual is C:\Programs\Renesas\FDT4.01\FDT.exe wherein "programs" is a user defined folder by me.

In which path does the editor expect the fdt.exe?

Thanks for your help

Hi again Petri,

have deinstalled fdt and editor again, cleaned registry with regclean and installed fdt and editor again. Same issue as before.

FDT.exe is now located on: C:\Programme\Renesas\FDT4.01\FDT.exe

So, again my question, where does the editor expect the fdt.exe? What do you mean with default directory?

All the flashing routines are controlled from main.vb of Ecueditor and the below you can find what it expects. You should always install FDT with default settings, otherwise it will get into problems.

What is the default directory for german "Program Files" directory ?

If Not File.Exists(FDTpath & "FDT.EXE") Then
' check out for the known versions, assume latest known being used if found
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT3.07\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT3.07\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.00\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.00\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.01\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.01\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.02\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.02\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.03\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.03\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.04\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.04\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.05\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.05\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.06\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.06\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.1\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.1\"
If File.Exists("C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.10\" & "FDT.EXE") Then FDTpath = "C:\Program Files\Renesas\FDT4.10\"
My.Settings.Item("FDTpath") = FDTpath ' store the latest know as the default_owner
End If

If Not File.Exists(FDTpath & "FDT.EXE") Then
MsgBox("FDT.exe not found, please install from www.renesas.com/fdt. Only versions 3.07, 4.00, 4.01, 4.02 tested.", MsgBoxStyle.Information)
Else
' FDT FOUND, flashing is possible
' first close the comport if its open
.... and this is where programming routine starts ...

It seems setting up a folder named "Program Files" under C: and copying the Renesas program in it works.
The German name for the folder is "Programme"

Justin / Petri any chance of somehow allowing the code to recognize folders called "Programme" as well?
