2009 Yamaha R1 US spec ecu

New here and I'm finding this forum very interesting. I have some questions that hopefully I can get help with. I own a 09 Yamaha R1 and the US spec bikes have a the throttle by wire and above ~11,500 rpm the ecu cuts throttle to 80% even though the twist grip is 100%. So far the only two ways I know of around this is to buy the YEC race ecu which is very expensive and you loose the speedometer and odometer, the other is to get a euro ecu but you have to get the wiring harness, key switch, and key for the bike since they have the immobilizer built in.

Do you think it is possible to "hack" the ecu and get rid of the throttle restrictions? If this is possible it would make the majority of R1 owners very happy. All I know so far about the ecu is that it has 3 processors and it's a Denso model TBDF66.

thanks

What your talking about is possible. I actually have an '07 R1 ECU sitting on my desk and R6 harness with throttle by wire throttle bodies wired up on my bench. What your talking about should be available by next summer if not sooner.

I know someone will have a fix out soon enough, being a new bike it takes a while to get stuff developed for it. I know there is a guy on ebay that will reflash a stock ecu with yec software but he's charging the same price that you can get a yec ecu for, and that is just retarded.

Yep, I've tested YEC and Euro ECU and they both have the FBW ratio right. Unlike the US ECU...I have no idea why they did that disbelief

There is another shop offering a Yamaha ECU re-flash' "ECUnleashed" at Jett for $550.

I'm hoping to figure out how to remove US restriction on FBW for free

Hi,
my name is Sven from Sweden (2nd home Germany).
Does somebody have more knowledges about this offer:
http://www.jetttuning.com/ecunleashed

My tuner from Sweden cannot believe that it is possible, because the Yamaha ECU has no diagnostic port or connector. So how will this company do the reflash without to destroy the housing?

And is it also for Euro ECU to use or only for US ECU possible?

It could be a specialist like Petrik or RidgeRacer has more knowledge about this.
I believe this guys more than a mystic company which normally only tune Hondas and than offer a Yamaha ECU flash also for older Yamaha ECU. Why now and not before the last years?

What do you think?

The Ecunleashed product works, I have one coming in for testing on a 09 R1
next week. There are a couple companies hacking current Spec R1 R6 Ecu's.

I don't see why they could not alter the Euro Spec ECU just as Easy as the US Spec version - I've been told that its not hard to get around the imbolizer but have been too lazy to look at it biggrin I've been told that you can disable the imbolizer funtion on some ECU's but that's a question for some of the code guys.

Not many Japanese bikes in the US have it yet.

Has anyone made any progress hacking the R1 ECUs?  I have done a lot of searching and have not seen much discussion about it recently.  I may have a spare 08 R1 ECU really soon so I may make an attempt at getting the original ROM data off of it.  Any information regarding communicating with the 08 R1 ECU would be greatly appreciated.

actually, I used the service of ECuleashed and the result is perfect for my R1 2008, I think that their price is little high but my bike is very strong now. Vote for ECUleashed.
Dont waste money for cheap tool or interface...you waste your time and money when using it
