De-Restriction LAMS (AU)

Can you make it possible for me to edit the ecu-m on a gsx 650 lams and remove the restriction/limiter

Cheers Mick

The short answer is Yes.

Of course it may be more work than you are willing to put into it. To start with is it made by Denso or Mitsubishi? What year is it?

Its a 2011, not sure of ecu brand as it is my sons and he about 70 miles away and am not looking to do so for a while yet.

I have a k8 busa that i have installed an interface and flashed dozens of times.

I was hoping that I would be able to go down the same road.

Cheers Mick

Most Suzukis are Denso, but not all. The Denso have two 32 bit versions, the newer bikes are M32R cpus like your K8 busa, the older ones are like the k2-k7 busa.

If it is a newer type Denso it should be very much like your k8. If it is the older style someone will have to cut one open to get to the bin.

Marlin what are the chances cutting the map switch wire would put it on non restricted mapping ? most of the LAMS stuff here has the same model available as either restricted for learner riders and labled as such or non restricted gor general use .
other models and brands have done this with an inlet or exhaust restrictor

I have seen the MS wire used that way on some of the restricted (Belgium??) European Suzuki models.

The only way to know for sure would be to identify the wire and try it.

Does someone have a pinout diagram/point me in the right direction?. It is a denso 32920-17H01

You have to cut the wire to pin 30 to switch to MS1.

But the 32920-17H01 isn“t restricted.

Cheers

suzi...

This worked absolutely fantastic for me. Here's some more info so you can feel a bit more confident.....

1) download the service manual,

2) check page 77, 1A-6 for the ecu  terminals

3) cut the mode select switch which is number 30.

See also this forum for a picture and details  http://www.gsx650f.biz/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2750. (called ecu modi)

I cut mine about 2 inches from the ecu so that i can join it again if necessary. I also disconnected the negative battery terminal while i did it just in case and then taped up the ends. email me on perthmob@live.com.au if you want to discuss or need the manual or any further help.

She goes like a totally different bike mate...be carefull. Let me know how you go....cheers

Hi there,
i am having the same problem as suzi. i own a gsx650f lams version with a denso 32920-17H71 and i want to de restrict it.?

suzuki tells me that i cant due to vin numbers and that when they brought out the lams version.

but my question is if u got 2011 MODEL GSX650F NON LAMS version and just swapped em over would it work?

and im unsure as to which wires to cut. aswell?

thanks.

singy18, email me on perthmob@live.com.au. and i will try help.

I think there are some legalities where lams is in place and suzuki are not will to hear of any changes so they make up stories..There is a lot of bull circulating on the forums as well. I dont know all the details as i am not affected by it. we do not have lams in WA.

cheers
