03 to 05 R6 Cam Position Sensor

I'm plotting out an EFI upgrade for a Yam YZF 600R motor using a 03 to 05 R6 harness/TBs/ECU and am pretty confident on the bulk of the swap save for the cam position sensor.  On the R6 there is a three wire CPS that reads a trigger wheel on the exhaust cam.  The wheel has a single notch cut out of it to trigger the CPS.  On the 600R motor there isn't any room to add a similar trigger wheel to the cams.  I could notch the thrust flange at the end of the exhaust cam and hope it doesn't eat the head but I'd rather explore a different approach first.  My thought is to trigger off an exhaust lobe assuming I can invert the output of the sensor easily.  There is plenty of room on the valve cover to grab any exhaust (or intake) lobe and at least visually it looks like there is a lobe that will trigger at the right point in the crank rotation.  I just don't know enough about that CPS to know if it'll A) just work and trigger off the lobe instead of waiting for a notch and B) if the output can be reliably inverted so the ECU is happy.

Any thoughts?

A little more digging reveals the CPS on those bikes to spit out a nice TTL level signal, so inverting the output will be cake.
