Lack of community support / interest

There seems to be a lack of interest in the user community for support, testing results, general comments, etc as related to ECU flashing.

Per the internet forums, personal experience with the racing public, and as busy as Greg Smith has been since beginnning to sell pre-made interfaces, Flashing has certaibly taken off. Most racers at "big events" know about flashing and a large number are taking part.

That is the great part.

The sad part is the complete lack of effort from most everyone that uses the products. I can barely get any feedback at all from general users anymore. When I ask folks from professional shops, I typically do get a response or at least some report on what worked or what was sketchy.

Truly a show of human nature to want everything handed to you and give nothing in return. I certainly see why Marlin went on his way with his projects.

1+

Also would like to see more activity on the forum and more collaborating on hacking more models/brands of ECU's
and continued development and extension of Softwares. I will certainly do what i can from my part, but as always the holdback is money...

I don't own a shop but, I have got a few people going on flashing. If you look at my posts I try to help when I think I know the answer.

I try to go off of my own experience or if I can show a post related to the topic. I haven't tried everything that flashing has to offer because my needs are mostly street related and not so much for racing.

I think also from the stand point of programming, the motivation is either to get paid or that you need something for your own bike. Other things will fall to the waste side if you don't have interest. Take the Gen 1 busa for example.

My motovation is very high, But my Lack of programing skills is makieng every thing taking twice as long. Currently busy to copy all the L1 1000 values over to the Busa bin. and are more than willing to share the bin once it is done.

I think part of the problem is the user numbers both those able to write code and end users , very few active here spread over several bike types and systems
and forums do seem to be getting less traffic .

But like your shift light question, i have had a dissapointing lack of reply on a couple of issues, when something as simple as a "i have the same problem" or "it worked fine for me " realy helps heaps...

I have been totally for flashing, and have been doing this stuff longer than most, also probally being the 1st to have a "flashed" 07 -up 1000 ecu and having the 1st 08- up hayabusa flashed ecu and editing software in the usa, i will keep supporting this project.....i have made several comments that has brought us some of the best features of ecu editor to the market.....and i will keep up with my technical, racing experiance public.......John give them hell, there is only a "few" who really cares about this and let's keep it going.....!biggrin

I care too!  I just lack the skills to help! I did start helping with the GSF1250 maps but moved jobs/house/country and things just got lost along the way. I do now have a spare ecu for the GSF1250 to practice flashing on but sent my flashing box to the USA for a friend to use on his Busa.

So I need to build/test another flash box, and start learning about deciphering the maps...

I think that is problem of end users.I have visited many times race tracks in Poland and few in Europe and after discussions with many rider they dont have any green idea how and what can we do with ECUEDITOR.There are lots of people who dont know nothin about AFR but they want to put wheelie from 3rd gear.I've tested many configurations of ECU/bins but only on desktop and i cannot convince clients to test it.On forum's here in Poland i have lots of questions but many people belive only in PowerCommander which "gives 200KM on my friends gsxr k4"

I wish I was better with computers.  I have no idea how to read and rewrite the code.  I do use ecu editor on my built motor, nitrous busa every day at the track.  I have tuned a few other busas.  I have showed several how to use it and they have got their own programing cables. Alot of guys are just used to the power commander. Or they just don't know how to use ecu editor, ecu editor doesn't have a easy to use or install on the bike auto tune.

Drag racing season doesn't start untill april for me.  so I will not be touching the bike or useing ecu editor untill then.  it is snowmobile time of year now.  I really hope a new programing cable is out soon with the faster baud rate and the log box.  I was hopeing these two items would be out soon at the begining of last drag race season.  I can easily tune the 100% throttle ranges useing a wideband commander.  Every thing under 100% is ithe general area, but definatly needs to be tuned. If the log box is not out or will be out soon in april I will have to figure out what small computer I can buy and keep in the tail section of a gen 2 busa to use auto tune.

thank you very much to every one who has contributed to development of all the ecu programing hardware and software.

Have tried now to collaborate with people here on the forum.
But nobody are willing to answer ANY questions, or contribute unless Justin for the past months.

So since everyone is working on themselfves and get pissed of when trying to collaborate even though they post threads about the topic.

Brix, you can stop sending me links to OBD cables and Renesas RSK. I have been researching m16c for quite some time and i know what they do. Try HELPING instead, or dont bother at all :) I get spam anyways

Blackgixxer, asked you about if the kawa ID code followed some logic or random, i fully understand it will NOT be the same, but since im trying to
bruteforce the m16c i am trying to narrow chars down to limit the time. But i guess 2-3 logins every day  for 5 days and no answer i can only interpet
that as you obviously dont give a ****! I can do it myself, but why reinvent the wheel and cash out for an extra ECU that i got no bike for testing
and might not give squat for what i am after...!?

If the attitude on the forum do not change, at least i personally will delete ALL my posts and account.
Since i have NO appearant use for this forum.... Why should i then contribute?

The only people that in my eyes earned a thank you is: Psyche, Justin, Carry, Maciej, RidgeRacer, Petrik and the others who participated in EcuEditor etc.

Any inputs? Or is it just me...

Keep searching & you will find what you are looking for.

Have a look at the book called "How to win friends & influence people" and read about how you can get people to help you. Both parties need to benefit or it doesn't work.
