I export bikes around Europe, I often have to change the ecu's, for example if going into france as there a 100 bhp limit.
Is it possible to read a french version CDI, a suzuki gsxr for example, and then set an english CDI to the same paramenters so it becomes restriced to 100 bhp.
If this is possible I would want to do this on site in france, so I would need someone technical to guide me through the process, I am prepared to pay for this assistance.
It is possible to reflash the ECU with a French configuration or an English one but, as far as I know, the GSXR only requires you to pull one wire from the ECU for it to switch between the two modes anyway.
I think the low power ecu has the optional hi power maps, but the hi power ecu has 2 similar maps you would have to flash it with the restricted version
We get some low power smaller bikes here as learner bikes
Not a complete custom solution but a cheap test to get you going.
1. Get a hold of an 10 EUR FTDI TTL-232R 5V USB cable. 2. Try to read a 21H80 with EcuEditor. (Then save the file) 3. If you are lucky you can just open then .bin in EcuEditor and flash it to whatever ecu connected. 4. If you are not lycky, change the ECUID in the file to match say 21H50. Then open file and flash.
By changing ECUID to one supported by EcuEditor you should be able to use the mapping functions etc. The "correct" way is to either find a definition for the unrestricted ecu and add restricted ECUID, or implement your ECUID to EcuEditor source code and compile :)
For Engine data you will need more than the FTDI cable, a complete EE interface or one from Justin will do both flashing and live data.

Thanks for the reply, I think there are 2 maps and the french version has 100 bhp map and a full power map that is changed from restricted to full power by cutting a conection to the ECU plug.
I can find samples of all the relevant french versions, for example the GSXR 1000 K7 -8 is 32920-21H80 in france , the UK/other europe is 32920-21H50.
Is anyone prepared to help me learn how to do this, organise tooling etc, for a fair fee.
