I'm new to the board and new to ECU editor. It's an amazing community and an amazing set of software! I have a 2009 Hayabusa and just did my first flash the other day- removed top speed limiters and gear based timing. I have a quickshifter on the way from Schnitz Racing and was wondering if I can get some recommendations for setting up the parameters. I was going to start with 60 ms kill (hard cut?) active after 6,000 rpm, but am open to suggestions. The bike is primarily a street bike. Thanks in advance.
i have run into an issue killing the bike through the gps. for the last 2 weeks i have replaced just about every component related to shifting!! in the burn out box the shift solenoid is getting a variable voltage from ??? and lifting my shift lever which in turn makes the amount of air in the bike low enough i cant shift down track. we kill the iginition through the ecu and use the gps to do this. the relay is good and the button is directly wired (not through the main harness - horn button) has anyone ever had this happen??? note that as the rpm increases the amount of pull on the lever increases!! the bike also has to be in gear for it to do this!! i was thinking i would just remove the shifter harness and connect the gps (which is new) back in the harnesss and go back to the old faithful MPS shift kill.
The GPS and ECU doesn't activate the shift solenoid at all. The shift solenoid is (should be) directly controlled by your activation button, with the introduction of the 220-ohm resistor into the GPS input being a parallel operation.
They shodul be two parallel events that are not really linked to each other, same as with an external kill box.
Hey guys. I got a quick shifter sensor from cycle tek and have it plugged in- now time to set it up in ecu editor. There is a drop down menu in ecu editor asking how the quick shift sensor is hooked up: resistor vs. dms1 vs. dms2... anyone know which one to pick? The sensor from cycle tek is "plug and play" and I believe hooks into the dms switch, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance for the help.
Longboard, you are posting in the Gen1 forum, yet you mention the DMS options in Ecu Editor. Is this for a Gen2 or Gen1?
If Gen1, you need to use the resistor method, and wire a 220 ohm resistor into your Gear Position Sensor circuit so that the switch makes the circuit "see" 220ohm when active.
The same method can be used for a GEN2, however, you may find a more robust solution in using the Drive Mode Selection input into the ECU as long as you reflash and don;t intend on using the b&c mode maps. For this, you woudl wire one side of teh switch to ground, and the other to the DMS input on the ECU, either DMS1 or DMS2, depending on which method you select in Ecu Editor.
Hey Sportbikeryder- yeah, sorry. Looks like I've been posting in the wrong forum. It is a gen 2 (2009). The quick shifter I got is from Matt at cycle tek and it comes pre- wired to plug in line with what looks like the DMS switch? The only other plug that fits goes to the fuel pump- shouldn't be that one... I don't have any instructions, so still trying to figure it out. I never use b or c mode, so no worries sacrificing those. Sorry muddying up the gen 1 section- I appreciate the help.
Just to close out my part of the thread- It was DMS2. It's working great. I've got the shifter active at 6,000 rpm with 60 ms shifts for all gears with fuel and ignition cut. Nice smooth full power shifts:)). Like others have done I may try shorter shift times in the lower gears, but it seems to be working well as is... Thanks for the help and again, sorry for posting about a Gen 2 in the Gen 1 forum hehe.
